The Community of Madrid considers that «at this moment it is not justified» an extension of the Metro to Parla, which would cost approximately between 713 and 901 million euros, and that it is «not in the immediate plans» of the Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
Parla will have a new tram stop at the future Parla Norte station
The vice-counselor of Housing, Transport, and Infrastructures, José María García Gómez, stated during a hearing in the Assembly of Madrid that the Metro «will eventually reach» Parla but currently there is no study that justifies or certifies the viability of such an extension.
Parla will install 300 bike parking spaces in busy areas
Another option, he said, would be to build a line from El Casar, where a new connection to Metro Line 3 has recently been inaugurated, but in this case, the length of the line would exceed 11 kilometers. In any case, the cost of the project would be estimated between 713 and 901 million euros.
The Parla tram doubles the number of passengers
García Gómez has appeared in the Assembly at the request of Más Madrid, whose deputy Marisa Escalante has denounced that the only ways to enter and leave Parla are the C-4 Cercanías Line and the A-42 highway, and both are «collapsed.»
Vox deputy Mariano Calabuig has criticized the Community of Madrid for not conducting an in-depth study of this possible project, while socialist Marta Bernardo has lamented the exclusion of the municipality from MetroSur when it was planned in 1997.
