Parla implements a specific protocol for heatwaves in municipal cleaning services and other street services. The aim is to prevent work-related accidents due to high temperatures that can sometimes have fatal consequences.
The afternoon shift has been eliminated in manual sweeping services when temperatures are higher, moving all that service to the morning shift, both on weekdays and weekends and holidays.
This type of cleaning is reinforced in the morning, prioritizing services provided by vehicles with air conditioning in the afternoon.
At least four workers have died due to high temperatures so far in 2025
Similar precautionary measures, they ensure, are also applied in other municipal street services such as Parks and Gardens.
In addition to training, information, and protective elements and hydration, the service will be suspended on days of orange or red alert.
