The National Police have dismantled an indoor marijuana plantation in a premises in the Madrid municipality of Parla and have arrested a 54-year-old man as the alleged responsible party, in an operation where five kilograms of the dried substance were seized.
The investigation began last February after detecting a strong cannabis smell in the vicinity of the premises, as well as abnormal electricity consumption, according to police sources informed to EFE.
On February 26, the premises were entered and searched, where the officers found a sophisticated marijuana cultivation system, with lighting and ventilation systems to optimize growth.

Also, 45 dried strains of the substance were seized, weighing over five kilograms, in addition to materials for planting, processing, and preserving the drug, five pruning scissors, and two knives.
One of the rooms had several drying cabinets full of drugs, while another was used as a resting place when the man had to watch over and care for the plantation.
The man, of Spanish nationality, was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health and electricity theft and was subsequently brought before the court.
