The investigation committee that will clarify whether there were allegedly irregularities or influence trafficking in the PAU-5 of Parla, the largest industrial development in the region, has started this Friday with an initial meeting to establish a schedule of testimonies and evidence analysis.
The committee will delve into the recent change from compensation land development to agreed expropriation, which led the City Council to take full control of the project.
At the heart of the matter is the controversy surrounding the involvement of the mayor’s brother, Wilfredo Jurado (former Urban Planning councilor), who allegedly participated «in the shadows» in drafting the expropriation process to benefit certain property owners.
Parla will resort to expropriation by agreement to boost PAU-5
This claim has been denied multiple times by the local government, attributing the appearance of the ex-councilor’s name to an error in not updating electronic signatures in the computer systems.
Nevertheless, the committee, proposed by Vox and supported by PP and Podemos, will investigate all these aspects.
The Council has approved that the presidency be held by the spokesperson of the Podemos-IU municipal group, Carla E. Valero.
Parla decides to directly assume the development of PAU5
This is the group that left the local government (PSOE and Más Madrid) when public funding for bullfighting events was approved last year.
PAU-5 and its development are key to the economic recovery of Parla, an effort led by the municipal government. It comprises 5 million square meters that could revive the local economy.
