Parla solicita un préstamo de 17 millones para pagar a proveedores

The Parla City Council has approved a modification of the Adjustment Plan and the request for a new loan in the amount of 17 million euros with interest for payment to suppliers, a «mandatory» measure from the Ministry of Finance, as defended by the councilor in the area, Andrés Correa.

Correa has stated that there is «no other choice» but to adhere to this measure. «It is about how we are going to repay this money: through a loan from the Ministry with an annual installment until 2040 or through monthly deductions,» detailed the councilor.

The measure comes after it was revealed that, according to data published by the Ministry of Finance, the municipality of Parla has the largest debt in the region – except for the capital – with a total of 515 million euros, resulting in a debt per inhabitant of 3,814 euros.

In this regard, Correa has attributed this economic situation to «a structural problem» which, in his opinion, is based on two pillars: the lack of industrial fabric and the «chronic neglect» of the Region towards the municipality.

Regarding the former, the Finance councilor highlighted that Parla does not have as many companies that «guarantee periodic income» through IBI and IAE, as is the case in municipalities like Getafe or Fuenlabrada.

As for regional neglect, he insisted that if the Region provided Parla with the same funding for the tram as it does for Pozuelo or Boadilla, «Parla would have over a hundred million euros less in debt.»

The loan and the change in the Adjustment Plan were approved due to the abstention of Podemos-IU, the municipal group that has clung to «responsible opposition.»

«We will not oppose because it would harm the suppliers,» they emphasized, admitting, however, that the new loan is «a patch.»

On the other hand, from Vox, their spokesperson, Juan Marcos Manrique, has pointed out that the new plan includes «inflated revenues.» «We should have a comprehensive, real, and external audit, with an Adjustment Plan based on actual revenues,» he specified, labeling the project approved on Thursday as «soggy paper.»

Finally, the PP spokesperson, Héctor Carracedo, emphasized the lack of information in the Plan. «We do not even know what the amortization schedule is, and, furthermore, we are indebting ourselves more and more due to irresponsible left-wing policies.»

After that, he predicted that the 17 million from the loan «will come out of the pockets of the residents starting in 2026.»
