The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has approved the layout project to install anti-noise screens on the A-42 as it passes through Madrid, Getafe, Fuenlabrada, and Parla, in the Community of Madrid, with an investment of 5.33 million euros.
In a statement, the Ministry has stated that the objective is «to reduce the noise pollution generated by the road traffic and improve the quality of life of the residents in the area.» «This milestone allows progress towards the final approval of the construction project,» highlighted from the department led by Óscar Puente.
The corresponding announcement will be published soon in the Official State Gazette (BOE). Specifically, the project includes an investment of 5.33 million (VAT included) to install metal soundproof screens in eight sections of the A-42 along 16.5 kilometers (between km 7.85 and 24.35).
The soundproof screens on the A-5 in Móstoles will be placed 10 meters away from the houses and not where the residents request
The total length of the screens in these sections will add up to 1,720 meters. Thus, the installation of screens between 2 and 4.5 meters in height above the road level of the A-42, on both sides, is proposed.
The soundproof screens will be metallic and will be placed on both sides of the road. Single piles will be used for their foundation, with a 4-meter separation between each one.
The Transport portfolio points out that these actions are part of the development of phase II of the Action Plan against Noise and aim to reduce noise levels generated by the high traffic flow in the area.
The Ministry ignores Móstoles’ allegations regarding the soundproof screens on the A-5
Following the approval of the layout project, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility continues with the drafting of the construction project, which will define the action with the necessary level of detail to make its construction and operation feasible, as established by Law 37/2015, of September 29, on roads.
